Santan Restaurant Sdn. Bhd. is a brand under the AirAsia’s non-airline subsidiary, RedBeat Ventures.
A name that is synonymous with the coconut pulp milk that is a staple in Southeast Asian cooking; Santan was created as an AirAsia’s inflight menu concept back in August 2015, to provide passengers a gourmet experience while flying. Over the years, we noticed passengers were ordering our inflight meals and taking them back home. We wonder what would happen if we replicated our success in the sky with a fast-food restaurant on-ground?
As of 3rd December 2019, we marked our first foray into the retail food business, serving meals from countries in ASEAN, including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Santan has also retrofitted its restaurant with smart menu capabilities to make a customer’s experience with us more intelligent and easy to use. Utilizing the most advanced technologies in artificial intelligence and machine learning, our digital menus can recommend popular dishes based on time, past ordering patterns, as well as demographic taste. By turning to big data, we will be able to reduce cost and wastage, by making demand forecasting, scheduling, pricing and promotion more efficient.
We aim to roll-out a franchise incentive program designed to accelerate new store openings in 2020, which is intended to increase sales, improve unit-level economics and expand our available trade-areas by increasing Santan’s accessibility to the market.
